The United States Peace Corps seeks a Medical Doctor to serve as a personal services contractor (PSC) Peace Corps Medical Officer (PCMO) based in Barranquilla - Colombia. The PCMO will provide health care to U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers in and will work under the supervision of the Peace Corps Country Director in Colombia and the Peace Corps Office of Health Services in Washington, DC.

Duties include:
-.Routine primary health care to Peace Corps Trainees and Volunteers including treatment of common illnesses and injuries in accordance with Peace Corps technical guidelines
-. Individual short-term counseling on disease prevention, adjustment issues, stress management and cross-cultural problems
-. Response to emergency medical situations;
-. Ability to conduct trainings on health related issues
-. Site visits to volunteers throughout the operational areas of the Peace Corps, including the Northern Caribbean Region and the Andean Region;
-. Medical attention to Volunteers for several days in our Offices in Barranquilla and Tunja and/or in rural sites of Santander, Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Atlantico, Magdalena, Bolivar and Sucre;
-. Inventory of medical supplies & equipment;
-. Provide and coordinate sexual assault prevention and response
-. Alternate 24 hour on-call duty with the other medical office staff
-. Perform other duties as assigned

Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and requirements:

• The applicant is a graduate of accredited school MDs must be a graduate of a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS).
• The applicant has a current license, registration or certificate in the host country, the United States, or the provider's country of training to practice their profession
• Valid Colombian Medical License and verifiable experience working in Colombia.
• Minimum 2 years of recent relevant clinical experience in primary care (after internship and/or residency)
• The applicant must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in providing health education.
• Experience in providing emotional support and short-term counseling
• The applicant must have experience in training design and presentation of health-related material.
• The applicant must be willing to travel to sites in Colombia and overseas.
• The applicant must have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• The applicant must be able to obtain a United States of America visa.
• The applicant must be proficient in oral and written English in the application and interview. - Level IV (Fluent).
• Skills and Abilities: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. The ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers, staff (American, Colombian, and other) and volunteers. Ability to develop and maintain good contacts within suppliers, and health entities. Ability to plan, organize and execute volunteer health related activities and to prepare precise, analytical reports
• Driver's License Category B1 or B2 issued at least 5 years ago is required, as well as excellent driving skills and record, and the ability and willingness to travel and drive in rural areas, either accompanied or alone.
• Successfully complete all Medical Examinations required by the Agency and/or the US Embassy for Staff allowed to drive official vehicles.
• Successfully carry out the Security Study carried out by the Embassy of the United States of America
• All submitted documents must be in English or translated into English.

PCMO Preferred Qualifications:
1. The applicant has experience in the management and administration of a health unit.
2. The applicant has experience working with international organization(s).
