QUALIFICATIONS:
• BFA in Graphic Design, Product Design, Illustration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and 2D computer programs.
• Adobe Creative Suite proficiency
• Knowledge of 3D CAD is a plus
• 2-4 years of designing product and packaging.
• Ability to create product, packaging and production specs.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent design skills and strong creative intuition with a good sense of color and attention to detail.
• Experience in Product Design and Development within the mass-market stationery, arts and crafts, toy, children’s products, or party supply industries preferred.
• The ideal candidate will exhibit interest in and knowledge of the current trends.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
• A positive team player with an excellent attitude and receptive to art direction and input from others
• Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate with the Design Director on art direction and format reviews after receiving an Art Request. Formats can be based on factory samples, competitor samples, and existing items.
• Propose style guides that align with the retailer’s needs, target demographic, seasonality, and current trends.
• Maintain an organized digital filing system, including style guides, presentation images, and art files, following established BOX protocols.
• Work collaboratively with other designers on shared Art Requests to ensure a cohesive assortment from both a design and presentation standpoint.
• Partner cross-functionally with Production and Product Development teams to gain a deeper understanding of product details, safety requirements, and packaging specifications.
• Create sales presentations that clearly communicate product details through composite imagery and supporting visuals.
• Submit concepts for licensor approval, ensuring all required guides, assets, seasonal info, customer details, PMS colors, materials, and item specifications are included. Manage resubmissions and update artwork based on licensor feedback.
• Utilize factory die-lines to develop precise templates that align with production requirements.
• Create new item templates for both product and packaging based off physical samples.
• Prepare final artwork for factory production, ensuring accuracy, proper setup, outlined type, embedded images, clear callouts, and correct layer structure. Artwork must reflect licensor feedback and align with what was presented to Sales.
• Stay informed on market and design trends by conducting in-store research, reviewing samples, and analyzing fashion and social media.
• Stay current on design software, file-sharing tools, project management platforms, and Microsoft programs.
