Your responsibilities and tasks:

• Monitoring the restoration quality and performance of our tree planting areas in the Vichada region and beyond, including land preparation, tree nurseries, planting and maintenance operations.
• Monitoring of production risks (e.g. fire) and implementation of preventive and control measures in cooperation with forest engineers on site.
• Planning and carrying out mortality and growth monitoring.
• Overseeing the technical work of subcontractors and field teams, and ensuring compliance with our internal policies, including ESG standards, code of conduct, reporting tools, and operational quality requirements.
• Supporting the implementation and field-level evidence gathering for international carbon certification standards (e.g. Gold Standard, Verra, Plan Vivo, Equitable Earth, Isometric), including baseline assessments, monitoring protocols, plot design and gathering relevant documentation.
• Engaging with local communities and stakeholders in line with our ESG approach, contributing to social and environmental impacts on the ground.
• Close exchange with the team in Germany and Costa Rica and creating corresponding reports.
• Checking new land areas for suitability for forestry.
• Continuous further development of our concepts in cooperation with the team and implementing innovations on site.
• Visual documentation of our sites by taking pictures with camera and drone and creating associated maps.
• Support in the organisation of field trips for customers, investors and auditors.

Your qualifications, experience and skills:

• University degree in forestry engineering, environmental science, ecology or a related natural resource management field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in tree planting projects in Colombia (or similar regions) and corresponding technical expertise, ideally with native tree species.
• Practical experience with carbon forestry and certification standards (e.g. Gold Standard, Verra, Plan Vivo, Equitable Earth, Isometric) is a strong advantage.
Experience in overseeing subcontractors and ensuring compliance with ESG standards, codes of conduct and operational policies.
• You are willing to travel regularly (mobility provided). You will spend a large part of your working time in the Vichada región, with flexibility to travel to other regions of Colombia as needed. Villavicencio or Cumaribo could be a possible starting point for your travels.
• A highly organized and independent way of working, ensuring structure and reliability in all reporting processes
• Experienced in flying drones and operation of other monitoring equipment (e.g. trail cameras, acoustic recorders, GPS devices)
• Proficiency in GIS Software (e.g. QGIS, Google Earth Pro) for spatial data analysis and map creation
• Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, specifically Excel for data management and PowerPoint for presenting project progress
• Ability to work under pressure and flexibility even during intensive work phases.
• Proactive and agile mindset, with a commitment to continuous learning and a drive to constantly improve internal processes and workflows
• With your strong communication skills and language skills, you communicate confidently with local people and our international team:

English: fluent
German: an advantage
